The public private partnership Agri Chain Competence (ACC) was established in 1994, upon the initiative of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Management and Fisheries, Wageningen Agricultural University and in consultation with the business community.
The central goal of ACC is improvement of the competitive position of the agribusiness and food industry by means of the development and implementation of agri-supply chain and network knowledge. ACC has facilitated more than 60 supply-chain projects in Thailand, Brazil, Chile, Portugal, South Africa and the Netherlands. ACC projects bring together the business community (e.g. food processors, but also farmers), the knowledge sector (e.g. universities) and the public sector (e.g. Ministry of Agriculture).
The objectives of ACC facilitated projects are defined jointly by private and public partners. Normally they emphasise both the strengthening of the competitive position of the private sector, and the strengthening of the knowledge infrastructure in the public sector. ACC projects thus provide an option for the sustainable transfer of international capital, technology and management skills. The ACC is also available to support the development of organisations that may facilitate public private partnerships for supply chain and network management in other countries.
As from 1 January 2006 the foundations AKK, ACC and COKON merged and continued activities as Stichting AKK.
